I saw this photo on a friend's Facebook page. I almost slammed my head into the monitor.
There are so many reasons to be disgusted by this photo, yet people think it's cool. I had to refrain from calling them all ignorant racists.
Yes, by all means, let's compare the worst aspect of one of the worst natural disasters in our nation's history with the best aspect of a typical (albeit record) flood. Perfectly fair.
Can't people just be proud of the work they did, instead of having to turn it into racist propaganda?

Friend = Larry? There was a chain mail of this thing that went around for a long time. Think of it as a litmus test to determine which "friends" you never want to see in real life.
Very true. I do like the ability to easily hide somebody from my Facebook feed. I would guess there's a way to unfriend somebody, too, but I haven't looked for it.
The bigger problem with this picture (and why it angers people) is the truth it has to it. Being biracial allows me the luxury of acting as a fairly effective devil's advocate in discussions of race (yay me!). So, I tend to piss my browner comrads off at times - in this case by saying: "HEY, don't steal sh*t and people won't look at you like a thief!!!"
